Judge Kerns has served on the bench of the City of Las Vegas Municipal Court, Nevada, since 1997. Previously, he practiced law for five years specializing in criminal defense and domestic law. He earned his business administration degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego. He is a past president of the Nevada Judges Association and the 2006 Judge of the Year award recipient. Judge Kerns is a former governor and delegate for the American Judges Association. He is also presiding judge for the City of Las Vegas Youth Offender Court.
